Wij zoeken een docent met enthousiasme voor onderwijs, die proactief werkt, overzicht houdt en verschillende werkzaamheden zelfstandig kan plannen en organiseren. Je werkt hierbij nauw samen met de docenten van de Master Biomolecular Sciences en verzorgt daarnaast incidenteel onderwijs binnen soortgelijke vakken van deze opleidingen. In de rol van studentendecaan voer je gesprekken met studenten over met name de randvoorwaarden voor de studie. Je hebt affiniteit met wet- en regelgeving, zoals DUO, WSF en het studentenondersteuningsfonds. Deze kennis vertaal je naar de praktijk. Je beoordeelt onvoorziene urgente omstandigheden, financi\u00eble vraagstukken en aanvragen voor ondersteuning door particuliere fondsen. Je hebt affiniteit met (top)sport en cultuur en bent het aanspreekpunt voor studenten die knelpunten ervaren bij het combineren van hun studie en de topprestatie. Je zorgt dat het gehele proces rond topprestatie goed verloopt.<\/p>\n<p>Je hebt een open en nieuwsgierige houding naar studenten, terwijl je helder communiceert over wat wel en niet mogelijk is. Je hebt regelmatig te maken met complexe problematiek van studenten, waarbij je met de juiste mix van empathie, daadkracht en professionele afstand het juiste advies geeft. Geen enkele situatie is dezelfde en jij weet jouw expertise per casus op maat toe te passen. Hierbij houd je oog voor de kaders van beleid, wetgeving en universitaire belangen. Je werkt daarin nauw samen met studieadviseurs, studentenpsychologen en het ambtelijk secretariaat van het studentenondersteuningsfonds. Je hebt dus een breed takenpakket met topprestatie als aandachtsgebied en kunt goed schakelen in een complexe omgeving.<\/p>\n<p>Het subteam bestaat uit zeven studentendecanen en is divers, met verschillende achtergronden en perspectieven. Er is wekelijks casu\u00efstiekbespreking, werkbespreking en op regelmatige basis intervisie. Je kunt met feedback omgaan en goed reflecteren op je eigen denken en handelen. Dit helpt jou om jezelf en het subteam continu te verbeteren. Tussen de bedrijven door is er ook de mogelijkheid om met elkaar te sparren. Onze ervaring en deskundigheid delen we graag met elkaar. Binnen ons team vinden we het belangrijk dat er ruimte is voor humor en plezier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jouw taken<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Je begeleidt, informeert en adviseert studenten, waarbij je complexe wet- en regelgeving op het gebied van hoger onderwijs op een heldere manier weet te vertalen naar de student. Dit doe je vanuit een onafhankelijke vertrouwenspositie.<\/li>\n<li>Je schakelt soepel tussen verschillende casussen en prioriteiten, zonder het grotere geheel uit het oog te verliezen.<\/li>\n<li>Je werkt met studenten uit diverse doelgroepen, zoals toppresteerders, studenten met een functiebeperking, mantelzorgers en internationale studenten.<\/li>\n<li>Je beoordeelt de aanvragen van onze toppresteerders, maakt onderdeel uit van de commissie Topprestatie en bent in gesprek met toppresteerders over de combinatie van studie en hun topprestatie.<\/li>\n<li>Je draagt bij aan beleidsontwikkeling en herziening van regelingen. Since then, the SWPoint has become a fixed staple at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and continues to serve students as a fixed service. At the Student Wellbeing Point, trained students will help you with wellbeing-related questions or by offering a listening ear. In our informal living room on campus you can find a safe space to take a breather, find more information about other VU services (e.g. the Student Psychological Counselors), and\/or have a helping conversation with a cup of tea. With this low-threshold approach, we hope to help connect you to the right services or communities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job description<\/strong><br \/>As a Point Peer, you are passionate about student wellbeing and motivated to advocate for it. You are empathetic and compassionate, able to actively listen without judgment, and confident engaging with students one-on-one as well as during group events or outreach moments. As a representative of the Student Wellbeing Point, you contribute to creating a safe and welcoming environment for students, help them navigate wellbeing services at the VU and externally, and increase awareness about student wellbeing at VU. Over the past decade there has been a surge of new synthetic unidirectional rotary motors powered by light (2016 Nobel prize) that have enormous potential to actuate new types of designer molecular machines and materials. Now, it is time to use single-motor measurements to uncover how these motors can generate force and how they can efficiently move along tracks. Within this programme, we will take the next leap forward: to go from single motors to molecular machines in which motors work together to effectively transport cargo or perform dedicated tasks beyond the limitations of biological systems.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In <strong>this PhD project<\/strong>, you will investigate the physics of light-driven synthetic molecular motors and of the transport machines built from them, using advanced single-molecule techniques. We will develop and apply single-molecule fluorescence microscopy and optical tweezers to quantify how human-made rotary-motor-based walkers translocate along DNA-based tracks. You will explore how multiple motors, for example interlinked walkers or motors on a surface, can cooperate to perform dedicated tasks. Specifically, your experiments will quantify how motor-track design and coupled motor operation in simple molecular machines determine speed, processivity and directionality. Together with the theorists in the consortium, you will thus link the thermodynamic performance of synthetic motors to molecular design principles and contribute to the development of the first generation of functional molecular machines.<\/p>\n<p>Your PhD project is embedded in a strong <strong>collaborative consortium<\/strong> funded by NWO-XL, with the pioneers of light-driven rotary molecular motors of Nobel-laureate Ben Feringa (RUG), with single-molecule experimentalists Iddo Heller (VU) and Jan Lipfert (UniA), with theoretical physicist Chase Broedersz (VU), and with
