Research leverages both linear and nonlinear optical effects to create highly functional, low-loss, and reconfigurable photonic systems with capabilities such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>RF photonic filtering and signal processing;<\/li>\n<li>True-time delay generation and phase control;<\/li>\n<li>Optical pulse shaping and frequency synthesis;<\/li>\n<li>Integrated optical communication subsystems;<\/li>\n<li>Programmable photonic signal-processing architectures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will contribute to the further development of cutting-edge integrated photonic technologies, combining expertise in photonic integration, nonlinear optics, nanofabrication, and system-level design to address fundamental scientific challenges and enable future communication, sensing, timing, and quantum systems. Met jouw inzet en vaardigheden help jij het verschil te maken voor de studenten en docenten aan de Universiteit Twente. Dit doe je door leiding te geven aan drie teams Educational Support en het Minor Team. Je geeft leiding aan 17 tot 19 medewerkers. Elk team Educational support ondersteunt de verschillende opleidingen binnen een faculteit. Jij bewaakt de samenhang tussen processen en werkzaamheden binnen de teams en tussen de verschillende teams. Daarnaast stem je regelmatig af met de opleidingen over de verschillende ondersteuningsprocessen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Het team<\/strong><br \/>Als Teamleider Onderwijszaken ben je werkzaam binnen de afdeling Students Affairs &amp; Logistics (SA&amp;L). SA&amp;L is onderdeel van het Centre of Educational Support (CES) van de Universiteit Twente. Je vormt samen met een tweede teamleider, het afdelingshoofd en de procesco\u00f6rdinator de leiding van de afdeling. De teams zijn zelfredzaam en er zit veel expertise. Er hangt een goede sfeer waar samenwerken belangrijk is en verbinding zoeken met andere teams ook.<\/p>\n<p>Je geeft rechtstreeks leiding aan de teams met de volgende kerntaken:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Je stuurt vier teams aan en je bewaakt samen met de andere teamleider de continu\u00efteit van en de samenhang tussen de werkzaamheden van de afzonderlijke teams.<\/li>\n<li>Je co\u00f6rdineert de aansturing van de specifieke teams en je bewaakt en ontwikkelt de uniform ingerichte processen rondom de registratie van de studievoortgang en effici\u00ebntie in de dienstverlening.<\/li>\n<li>Je bent verantwoordelijk voor HR-taken binnen de teams waaraan je leiding geeft; Traditional CBM still relies heavily on information coming from manual inspections, analysis, and planning. While generic digital tools exist, they often fail to deliver efficiency gains for complex and specialized assets like navigation locks.<\/p>\n<p>Navigation locks are made up of many structural and mechanical components, each with unique degradation mechanisms. These can be detected and structural condition indicators drawn when changes in certain parameters are detected\/triggered. Understanding these \u201ctriggers\u201d is essential for building a digital CBM ecosystem that truly works. By identifying and clustering triggers, and deploying sensors optimally, we can create a Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system that offers reliable, real-time insights into the condition of a lock complex.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Challenge<\/strong><br \/>The aim of this project is to design a <strong>framework for the SHM system of the Hengelo Lock Complex<\/strong>. You will investigate how the condition of the lock is currently assessed and identify triggers that allow for automated, continuous SHM with minimal human interventions.<\/p>\n<p>Your research will cover:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Analysis of structural and mechanical behaviour of lock components.<\/li>\n<li>Review of relevant national, regional, and organizational regulations and guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluation of current practices and feasible structural health monitoring technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Cost\u2013benefit assessment of sensor deployment and measurement interpretation strategies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a <strong>multifaceted project<\/strong> at the intersection of structural and mechanical engineering, asset management, and Civionics \u2013 sensor-based SHM of civil infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Context and Supervision<\/strong><br \/>The project is sponsored and hosted by <strong>Rijkswaterstaat<\/strong>, the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. You will work with an ambitious and international team of dedicated students who are eager to develop both individually and as a team.<\/li>\n<li>You will lead two training sessions per week, on Mondays and Thursdays from 18:00 to 19:30. In addition, you will coach the team during games, which mainly take place during the weekends, usually on Saturdays and occasionally on Friday evenings or Sundays.<\/li>\n<li>You will play an important role in the team\u2019s sporting development. You will prepare training sessions and games, develop players on both a technical and tactical level, and help the team get the most out of themselves together.
