Scientific programmer/developer

You will work with professors and Ph.D. students to develop software that allows them to perform their cutting-edge research in many areas, e.g. artificial intelligence, business, decision sciences, and economics. Current projects include intelligent decision-support systems for the Dutch Flower Auction (Nederlandse bloemenveiling), supply-chain management, public transport, and future energy markets (smart grid).

Functie-eisen
For this position we are seeking:

• Strong Java knowledge, especially low-level sockets, threading, and UI
• Know how to self-test your source code with unit-tests
• Understand the value of documenting your source code
• The terms magical numbers, design by committee, NIH, feature creep, and interface bloat hold negative meaning for you
• Windows and Unix/Linux experience
• Some mathematical/statistics knowledge and experience
• Fluent in English and Dutch language is a MUST

The salary scale for this position is scale 10 CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten (maximum € 3.755 gross per month - fulltime). Salary will be based on background and working experience.

Dienstverband: Tijdelijk, 1 year after which there is the option of a permanent contract after 3 years.
